Massimiliano Porcelli, president of the Utopia 2000 Cooperative, is ready to pedal for a fairer Europe. On June 2, the Sunflowers European Tour will start from Lisbon, a bicycle journey of over 6,000 km across 10 countries, with the aim of promoting Social Economy as a model of sustainable and inclusive development.
"It's not just about pedaling," explains Porcelli, "but about demonstrating that another Europe is possible, a Europe where the economy serves people and the planet." The tour will document successful experiences, from social cooperatives to businesses that integrate profit and social goals, demonstrating how reducing inequalities is the key to a fairer and more peaceful society.
"In a time of global instability, we believe that Social Economy can offer a concrete response to the challenges of our time," Porcelli continues. "We want to create a European network of organizations and businesses that share our values, to build a better future together."
